I’ve got a new writing project idea that I think you’ll all like.
The pitch: I pick one Tumblr user out of a hat, presumably every day, and write a story about them.
WHY? As you may or may not know, November is National Novel Writing Month. I’ve participated for the last two years, and won once. I want to make this another winning year, but I’m going to have to brush up if I want to beat last year’s “disappointing” performance. Therefore, I’m dedicating October to hunkering down and doing a lot of writing, all so that I can be ready to go by November 1st.
HOW? Tumblr users can request to have a story written about them, or I’ll jot down a few of my followers and ask their permission. I’ll ask a few questions - Good or evil? A particular genre? Love interests? - and once we’re all set, I’ll get to work. Stories won’t be more than 1,000 words, since I like to keep things short and sweet for you, the readers. Also, I don’t want to get too wrapped up in a story if I’m making this a daily-ish thing.
WHEN? I’ll start as soon as possible. Granted, the name of the blog won’t be “Tumblr Stories,” unless that’s the only thing that sounds good (and if the staff will allow it.) Once I have something up and running, I’ll let you all know.
I don’t know if this will get even 10 viewers, or even a follower, but I’d like to give this a shot. Tumblr has been good to me for almost four years, and I’d like to give back to this kooky and interesting community that I’ve still got much to learn about.
If you’d like a story written for you, just send me a message and we can get things sorted out. Pip pip.
